There are never any guarantees out here in the wilderness, but our guides will put you in the best possible position for an opportunity. Then, we’ll set off into the wilderness for a day of hunting. Hunters can expect to start their day with a hot breakfast in the cook tent. An attached cook tent provides a separate space for our guides to prepare meals. Bring your sleeping bag and personal hunting gear, and we’ll take care of the rest. Our wilderness camps are simple yet comfortable, with 16x20 wall tents and wood burning stoves, along with large cots and thick pads. This makes it a good option for hunters who would rather not ride a horse out of the main lodge every day. Once you’re at camp, all hunting is done on foot. And all gear will be taken by our hard working pack animals. Hunters will ride into camp on one of our sturdy saddle horses or mules. Inside the Wilderness area boundary, there is no motorized access. This allows us to rotate camp locations, reduce pressure, and increase hunt quality. However, we never use more than a handful in a single season. Our lodge-based elk hunts include five full days of hunting, six nights accommodations and meals.īudge’s has more than a dozen permitted camp locations scattered throughout our 150 square mile area. Then, you’re welcome to relax in the lodge or head back to your own cabin for some rest. When we return to the lodge after dark, a home-cooked dinner will be waiting. Otherwise, we will provide a sack lunch for the day. In some cases, we will return to the lodge for a simple lunch. The first rifle season is a limited draw hunt, but the tags never sell out and can be drawn every year. Licenses for both of these rifle seasons are easy to obtain. ![]() Colder weather and the chance of snow can work to the hunter’s advantage, causing the animals to be more active throughout the day. The second rifle season takes place at the end of October. Hunters during this season usually experience mild weather - but of course there are never any guarantees when it comes to weather in the high country. The first rifle season takes place during the first half of October. Licenses for both of these seasons are very easy to obtain. We offer hunts during the first and second rifle seasons in Colorado. Colorado residents can draw with 0-1 point. It currently takes a nonresident hunter 2-3 preference points to draw the archery elk license. Plus, reserving now will lock you in at current pricing.
